Holiday Giving Guide: Your Sweet Heart

What makes your heart happy? Your family, your friends, your pets? What do you notice in your community that fills you up — and what breaks your heart a little? Those feelings aren't random. They're clues. And this activity invites students to pay attention to them, because what we carry in our hearts is almost always what leads us to give.

Our hearts are capable of enormous love and empathy — and that capacity is exactly what makes each of us a philanthropist. This warm, reflective activity helps younger students make that connection in the simplest, most personal way: by starting with what they already feel. A lovely opener for any giving unit, or a gentle standalone reminder that the most powerful thing a young person brings to the world is their big, sweet, beautiful heart.
