March Kindness: Swish for Kindness

Being kind means being friendly, considerate of other people's feelings, and giving or sharing something we have with someone in need. What other words come to mind when you think about the word "kindness"? Write them down in the basketballs and make a SWISH for kindness!

Kindness is being friendly, considerate of others' feelings, and willing to share what we have with someone in need. But kindness is also so much more than that — and this activity invites students to discover just how rich and expansive the concept really is. By brainstorming and writing down every word that comes to mind when they think about kindness, students build both the vocabulary and the emotional awareness that sit at the heart of philanthropic thinking.

It's a simple activity with a surprisingly powerful effect. When students see their basketballs filled with words like "empathy," "generosity," "patience," "listening," and "showing up," they begin to understand that kindness isn't a single act — it's a whole way of moving through the world. And that understanding is the foundation everything in Project Heart is built on.
