Tiny Philanthropists, Mighty Impact

Never underestimate the power of passionate elementary school students. Ms. Elliott’s third-grade class at Carrie Martin Elementary in Loveland, Colorado, may be small, but they are mighty big philanthropists. Inspired by their shared love of helping people and animals, these tenacious third graders came together with a clear purpose: to raise money for a nonprofit that truly mattered to them.

Through an entrepreneurial fair, students raised more than $1,000 for International Hearing Dog — an organization that trains and places hearing assistance dogs with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Combined with an Illumination Fund Grant from OtterCares, the class delivered more than $1,500 to the nonprofit. Their story is proof that big hearts come in small packages, and that young people — given the right tools and belief — can turn passion into meaningful action.
