March Kindness: Community Court Press

Every community has needs — in the school hallways, on neighborhood streets, among the people and animals around us every day. The first step to doing something about those needs is learning to see them clearly, and this activity makes that practice feel energetic and engaging. Students identify ten specific needs they observe and write each one on a basketball jersey, filling the court with real evidence of a class that's paying attention.

It's a fast, high-energy activity with real depth underneath. By the time all ten jerseys are filled in, students have done something genuinely important: they've moved from vague awareness that "people need help" to specific, personal observations about their own community. That specificity is where all meaningful giving begins — and this activity puts it right in front of them, one jersey at a time.
