Rewards of Resilience

Helping others and giving back (philanthropy) are part of a resilience toolkit. Help your students build their own resilience toolkits with this Project Heart Beats!

Life can be hard — but we can do hard things. This activity from the Project Heart Beats series helps students understand what resilience really means and build a personal toolkit of habits, strategies, and perspectives they can draw on when things get tough. Helping others and giving back are part of that toolkit too — because philanthropy doesn't just benefit the people we serve, it builds the giver right back up.

Once students have built their own resilience toolkit, the challenge becomes sharing it. How can you use your Time and Talent to help a classmate, your classroom, or your school develop the same tools? Students use the Design Thinking Process to design a way to spread what they've learned — because resilience grows when you give it away, and your school community is a place where that kind of giving can make a real difference.
